5th MOBILITY -

Coulsdon (Great Britain)

Day 1

This morning we were welcomed by the headmaster.

After that, the primary school children took us on a guided tour of Woodcote Primary School this morning and then we went to the classes where the 6 French students answered the questions of the young children of Woodcote.

At 12:30 we had a hot meal at the canteen and then we went back to the classes until 3:20. Some of us played « la Thèque » with the children and then we helped them preparing posters comparing France to England.

This morning we started at 9.00 with assembly. About 400 very quiet young children....

...listened to the headmaster and asked questions to the mayor of Croydon who was his guest. The mayor is a woman of Indian origin who explained what her job was about. There are 3 assemblies every week in this school.

Then we visited the nursery (maternelle) then we went to the nearby High School. About 1000 pupils from 11 to 18 years old attend classes.

Then we went to the classes again to present our prezis while Mr Hérault was working on the final report with his foreign colleagues. The students, Mrs Dolci, Mrs Viaud and Mrs Roux-Mahieux took part in the lessons.

Day 2

We went sightseeing in London today and saw Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden and Big Ben. We did a bit of shopping and came back around 6:00.

No photos today because I couldn't get the ones our chief photographer Simon took.

Day 4

Today we took the train to go to Brighton where we saw the Brighton Royal Pavillion. We also went to the Brighton Beach and the Brighton Pier but we didn't stay very long because it was heavily raining. The children enjoyed shopping again. Then we celebrated the end of the Comenius project with a dinner and a dance.
